Immigrating Under the Live-in Care Giver Category
Families who have small children that need constant supervision, or an elder that needs constant care may hire a foreign national as their live-in care giver. After the care giver has worked full-time for two years, they may apply for immigration.
One could say that grandparents immigrate under this category to take care of their grand children. The advantage of this category is that the salary paid to the care giver is tax deductible. The other advantage is that when compared with other sponsorship categories, these applications are resolved in a relatively short period of time.
Canada is one of the few countries that actively works to keep multiculturalism alive, and provides the groundwork for immigrants to keep their language and culture alive. It is perfectly understandable to want to raise your children under the care of someone who knows your culture and speaks your native tongue.
If you would like to hire a foreign national to look after your small children or elderly family members, if the information you received from friends and other outside sources has confused you and you’re not sure where to begin, it’s time to seek professional assistance.
